Mawashizushi Katsu Midori Meguro is an excellent and affordable kaitenzushi (conveyor belt sushi), restaurant located right next to Meguro Station. It is located on the first floor of the Atré Meguro 2 shopping center. The variety is outstanding and there are more than 200 different varieties of sushi on offer. Sushi can be taken off the conveyor belt or directly ordered from the chefs from a computer screen which has an English menu option.
The fish portions are generous. Highlights among many others include Nodoguro (black perch), seared salmon with a miso sauce, an eye-popping huge portion of anago sushi, and a variety of mackerel sushi. Cooked dishes are available as well, including fried squid, oysters, or chicken karaage. Vegetarian options and sushi rolls are also available on the menu. Green tea is self serve with hot water dispensers and powdered tea available at each seat. Even desserts are available from the conveyor belt including fresh melon or traditional Japanese sweets with red bean.
The sushi is incredibly fresh and extremely affordable with enough food for prices easily under 1000 yen a person as each plate is around 100 to 200 yen, with the most expensive sushi dish being about 500 yen. The food is constantly renewed if not taken, ensuring maxim freshness. At the front of the store, takeout sushi can be purchased to eat at home. The service is fast and efficient and there is little wait during non-peak hours. During peak hours, a one hour wait is not uncommon. There are tables as well as counter seats.
