With a white sandy beach, clear blue water, a lighthouse, a simple and colorful “church,” seaside grasses with wildflowers, and adjacent rocky cliffs, this campground is one of my favorites in Japan. There's also a nature center. You can pitch a tent here for about 2,000 yen or rent a bungalow during the season (083-786-0477). Tsunoshima is most peaceful between sunset and early morning when the daytime crowds are gone and the sound of the waves prevails.

Tsunoshima Ohama Campground
Spend the night at an extraordinary beach

A quaint "church" overlooks this beach campground
A peaceful morning view from inside the tent
A bird, a boat, a tree, the sea, and a rock
A ladybug strolls among a sea of yellow flowers
What a peaceful morning!
Out of cooking gas, a friendly neighbor's loan brought hot coffee to reality
This "church" is actually a set for the 2005 Japanese film, Miracle in Four Days
Bunches of purple flowers crowd a path with the lighthouse behind
Spring flowers reach out
The beach
A butterfly visits
View of the campground from the hill above
Flowers brought even more happiness to my morning
Delicate beauty
The front view of the "church"
A night-light illuminates the beach, but the stars still shine bright on sparsely-populated Tsunoshima

A camping trip here sounds like the perfect way to relax...what a gorgeous spot! Hot coffee and those views sounds heavenly.
I would love to visit South Africa! I've heard so much about it.

The plants around that beach almost make it look like some of the beaches here in South Africa!
