Tokyo in July is incredibly hot. That's why, when I found Okusawa shrine in Jiyugaoka, it was a blessing. I have never appreciated a shrine so much in my life as when I sat down in the blissful shade of the trees, and took in the beauty of the buildings and the cicadas' song in the background. Jiyugaoka is a fantastic place to shop and eat, but Okusawa shrine is well worth the visit for a little break from walking around.
