Odaiba's Diver City Tokyo Plaza

Unique, large-scale entertainment facility in Tokyo Bay

Diver City Tokyo Plaza is located on the artificial island of Odaiba in Tokyo Bay, a popular sightseeing spot for people from all over the world. If you are flying in or out of Haneda Airport, it is easily reachable as it takes less than 30 minutes by car or train. From central Tokyo, take the scenic Yurikamome monorail from Shimbashi Station. When you reach Daiba Station, it is a short five minute walk to the Diver City shopping complex.

The complex was created in 2012 with the aim of being a unique and popular new landmark in Tokyo. It was designed with the theme of promoting a 'theatrical city space.' Diver City offers several different experiences—including giant Gundam statue—and a wide variety of shops & restaurants. After visiting several shopping facilities around Tokyo, this newer destination is by far one of the most impressive I have seen and it offers the best variety.

Diver City is a massive complex with seven floors of shopping, dining, and entertainment. Almost any type of retail store you can think of can be found within this mall. The shops are very diverse, with several well known American apparel stores, high-end fashion brands, unique Japanese souvenir shops, and a variety of other stores.

There are a couple of food courts found within the complex that also offer a diverse selection. Western fast food restaurants, international cuisine, yakiniku, ramen, traditional Japanese food, a number of cafes, and several other options can all be found inside. For visitors with children, there is a Cafe de MIKI with Hello Kitty. It is designed to resemble London, the home of Hello Kitty. Choose from various desserts created in her shape. I recommend the pancakes covered in fruit.

Another unique feature of this mall is Round 1 Stadium. It is a huge entertainment facility that covers the entire seventh floor. There is a bowling alley, karaoke, and a multitude of arcade games. It also contains areas where you can play recreational sports like tennis, football, futsal, etc.

Diver City is a great destination that has a variety of activities to enjoy with family and friends!

I thought Diver City was so named to represent a place where divers can buy stuff that are used for diving or any related water sports. Well, what's in a name? This place nevertheless sounds interesting to visit as it is situated in an artificial island called Odaiba off Tokyo Bay. Thanks for sharing, Naomi. Cheers!
