Since ancient times, love has been one of the key themes depicted in Western art – and it has been showcased in a variety of ways, from the emotions of gods in Greek and Roman mythology to the daily lives of people in genre paintings.
A special exhibition coming to the National Art Center in Tokyo will explore the concept of love through 70 paintings from the Louvre's vast collection, including pieces from renowned artists including Jean-Antoine Watteau, François Boucher, Jean-Honoré Fragonard, and François Gérard to name just a handful.
Admission to the event is priced at 2100 yen for adults, 1400 yen for university aged students, and 1000 yen for high school students.
