I tend to like old buildings better than new ones, but when I visited the new Hikarie Building it really got my attention. The skyscraper opened in 2012, and has shops, offices, cafes and restaurants, the impressive Theater Orb, galleries, and much more. These photos were taken on the eighth to eleventh floors. I especially loved the spacious, airy Sky Lobby on the eleventh floor. There are many areas with seating and people-friendly decor. Hikarie is a great place to shop, meet friends or simply hang out and enjoy the views and the ambience. Also, I missed it, but I heard the ladies' restrooms are really something!

Hanging out in one of Shibuya's newest skyscrapers

This floor has a wonderful spacious feeling

A place to relax

There were some very cool seats and 'coffee tables'

The Orb Theater occupies the eleventh to sixteenth floors

Are you afraid of heights?

Floor to ceiling windows on the eleventh floor give a splendid view

In a few years this view will look completely different because the Shibuya Station area is being completely redeveloped

Cafe restaurant near the Orb Theater

This must be the fanciest convenience store sign in all of Japan!

Kawamoto Kihachiro Puppet Gallery on the eight floor

No photographs inside the gallery, but this splendid fellow was on display outside

Colorful floor guide on the eighth floor
