The 47 prefectures of Japan each specialize in producing a few thousand different kinds of food and handmade products. Where does your favourite item originate from? Or do you need some inspiration for your next destination? The d47 Museum on the eighth floor of Shibuya Hikarie holds a free exhibition answering these questions using a gift box from every prefecture. The idea is based on capturing the spirit of each prefecture through their regional cuisine and handicrafts.

47 Gifts from d47 Museum
A 3-D guidebook for every prefecture

The curator has a minimalist philosophy so we can focus on the exhibits. These gifts are the protagonists. Clean and simple, there is no need for any decoration.

Local Produce give the markers to the climate and geography of a prefecture. It's very tempting to take a bite. But sorry, no touching please.

Each item inside the gift box is actually product of an individual local brand. The curators believed that they are the true representatives of their prefectures.

Visitors exchanging ideas of their favourite and home prefectures.

Description is in Japanese only. No worries, you will know it because what it said is shown on the table.

The Museum changes its exhibition throughout the year.
