Kegon-no-taki Falls in Nikko is one of Japan’s three greatest falls (Nachi-no-taki, and Fukuroda-no-taki Falls are the other two). The falls are usually surrounded by autumn leaves from mid to late October. If you visit it in the morning, the lighting is at its best. You might even see a rainbow appearing over the falls. A free observatory deck is to the right of the falls, and there is also an observatory accessed by an elevator from inside the building that costs 530 yen. Several food stands and restaurants surround the parking lot. Amazake (warmed rice wine) will make you feel warm in the cold autumn morning!
