Kinchakuda made it to the list circulating on the internet called "30 reasons to go to Japan" (which could also be retitled 30 of the most beautiful places in Japan). And rightly so. It is the biggest place where the red lycoris flowers (or spider lily) is grown. Also called manjushage and higanbana, the carpet of deep and vibrant red flowers is a breathtaking sight and tourists flock here by the thousands everyday during its peak blooming time (mid-September). Catch other lovely fall views of the field as rice is harvested and the cosmos flowers start to bloom.

Close up of the spider lily.

Cosmos flowers start blooming after the spider lily.

Cluster of spider lilys in the foreground, Koma river in the background.

Every year, colorful scarecrows created by children from a nearby nursery school are displayed in the rice field.

Newly harvested rice are hung up to dry.

Thousands of people come to see the lycoris flowers, creating a festive atmosphere.

There are lots of things to see and buy from the vendors, including these branches that are essential for autumn floral displays.
