New Aquarium Opens in Sendai

Fish and fun at Sendai Port
An aquarium offers a glimpse of an underwater world. While zoos are fun, aqauriums are that, plus wonder and relaxation.
I took a trip to the new Sendai Umino-Mori Aquarium (仙台うみの杜水族館 ). It just opened a month ago, but is already incredibly popular. A large variety of fish and plantlife found around waters off the Miyagi coastline are showcased here. A dolphin show and a behind-the-scenes tour of the facilities are popular attractions. However, in this video I wanted to highlight some of the more memorable exhibits I felt capture the attention of guests. Eerie eels, energetic penguins, and mysterious plantlife were my favorite memories.
The aquarium is located at Sendai Port. It is easily accessible by pubilc transportation. Take a 16 minute train from Sendai Station to Nakanosakae Station via the Senseki Line. From there it is a 15 minute walk. Or board a bus at station #4 in front of Sendai Station, then get off a one minute walk from the aquarium. Combine your trip with dining or shopping at the large nearby MItsui Outlet Park mall for a full day of fun.
