Easily accessed from Nagamachiminami Station by bus or foot, Mikamine Park is one of the hanami hot-spots in Sendai. Unlike other hanami areas, this is a family park with a large play area where kids and adults alike can run around and have fun. Located on a hill, this spot gives a commanding view of the surrounding area. There is a variety of cherry blossom trees here and they differ not only in color, but also in height. There are no food stalls around, but it's a wonderful place for a picnic. Just imagine being sprawled out under one of those trees laden with flowers, sipping on a glass of wine and enjoying a good book. What better way to spend a weekend?

Mikamine Park Revisited for Hanami
One of Sendai's hanami hotspots

Community writer

At this park you can have a picnic under a canopy of cherry blossoms.

There are some extremely tall trees in this park.

The pink of the cherry blossoms against a brilliant blue sky is quite a sight.

It's an excellent location for a picnic.

As the branches slightly flutter in the wind, they seem to beckon to you to draw nearer.

There are a few of the trees with drooping branches.

Looking up.

You can easily spend an entire day here. The sun throws golden rays on the flowers as it slowly sets.

The trees are just covered in blooms

A panoramic view of the city

A sight to behold!

Even with the glare of the sun, it's a lovely sight.

Near or far, they are a beauty!

Flowers, flowers everywhere!

An excellent way to relax on a weekend.

Just look at that beauty!

There are so many trees that you'll always have a backdrop of more trees each time you stop to admire the flowers.

A grand show of elegance and beauty!

An absolutely fantastic place to enjoy hanami!

Beautiful! I hope Tokyo will be full of blooming sakura this weekend and I can go to a hanami too. Could see a lot of trees today in my area.
@Matthew, haha I won't recommend climbing them. But trust me, you'll be too blown away by the beauty to even have that thought :D
