Spring beside the Kamogawa

Enjoy O-hanami on the riverbank

Looking North along the Kamogawa

Beautiful weeping cherry blossom spills over the path along the river

Bamboo lattice holds trailing sprays of pink blossom

Vendor arranging trays of sweet rice cakes

Vendor selling dango-mochi and sakura-mochi (traditional sweet rice cakes)

Hanami picnickers under cherry trees

Musician playing koto, a traditional Japanese instrument

Delicious fried chicken

The barbecued meat looked good

People sitting on the riverside

There are many places to enjoy cherry blossom along the Kamogawa in Kyoto. One good spot is near Kita-oji Bridge. When I went there, glorious weeping pink cherry blossom overhung the path, while paler upright species of cherry blossom lined the opposite riverbank. Food vendors set up their stalls, a koto concert provided traditional style entertainment. Kyoto Botanical gardens is nearby, so you could easily visit there as well.
