This local Yamashina shrine looked especially pretty when I visited it following a light fall of snow. The shrine marks the start of a trail into the Higashiyama Hills, and I was headed for that trail. However I couldn't pass the shrine without taking a few photos of the rooftops, the steps. and the beautiful stone lanterns before continuing on my way.

Lovely to see Japan in a less publicized weather. You quite often see the autumnal shots but not the more wintery version.
There are lots of great winter photo stories on Japan travel!

Beautiful photos! I am not generally a fan of the cold (at all) but for some reason, I am hoping for snow this winter.
