Spring in Japan is synonymous with cherry blossoms, and one fantastic way to experience them is at the Sagamihara Cherry Blossom Festival. Running for over half a century, this annual celebration is taking place in early April for the 2025 season. Held beneath a stunning 500-meter stretch of cherry trees along Sakura Street near Sagamihara City Hall, the festival brings together residents, visitors, and local performers for two full days of festivities, food, and community spirit.

This year’s program will feature a full lineup of live performances, traditional music and dance, fun attractions for children, and over 250 local booths selling street food, crafts, and other goods. Visitors can look forward to watching traditional taiko drumming, an Awa Odori dance performance, and a lively show by the Kanagawa Prefectural Police Band.

Please note the event hours differ each day for the 2025 event:

  • Saturday, April 5th: 1:00pm - 5:00pm

    Sunday, April 6th: 10:00am - 5:00pm

Additionally, a colorful parade will include local mikoshi (portable shrines) and a performance by the region’s youth drum and fife corps. Sagamihara’s friendly mascot, Sagamin, will also make an appearance to welcome guests of all ages.
