Christmas in Kobe has a major attraction in the historical district of Kitano, where, as part of the celebrations, replicas of Santa Claus are placed on the old western style residences (Ijinkan). Santa Claus figures on rooftops, peeping through windows, waving at tourists, enjoying a cup of tea, various poses make for a festive setting. A highly recommended visit in the month of December (the Santa Claus disappears post Christmas!).
