Mikiyama Forest Park is a nature preserve in Miki City that offers a variety of regular activities and special events, not least of which are the twice annual mushroom hunts. Join 40 to 50 participants, along with several guides, to scour the forest, searching for either summer varieties in July or fall varieties in October. Edible mushrooms are used in making miso soup, which is enjoyed by all. The event is ended with an in-depth explanation (Japanese only) of the collected mushrooms, so you can learn how to avoid the more deadly species!
