It was a different sunset though. Rather than watching the sun itself, I strolled around the temple town area along the Higashiyama Walking Course, admiring the wonderful light which the sun had started to throw onto the traditional wooden buildings, making them look even more beautiful than they were already. If this wasn't enough, I almost had the whole temple area to myself. Believe me, the atmosphere was unbelievable—and unforgettable.

Walking through Unryuji's gate tower

The sunlight created wonderful shadows onto the old wooden structures.

Amazing temple buildings in perfectly designed surroundings

A view from the side allows a clearer sight onto impressive architecture.

Window details—simple Japanese design at its best.

Impressive tower gate of Unryuji Temple

And just before the sun finally set, I took a final look across the town's evening sky.
