A good number of visitors to the Fujigoko area (Mt. Fuji and its surrounding five lakes) arrive at Kawaguchiko station, which is the station to the mountain's most accessible lake. Its not a rare sight to see people excitedly clicking away at their cameras at their first encounter with Japan's highest mountain up close. The symmetrical and extremely photogenic Mt. Fuji is a national symbol of Japan and has been the focus of various works of art, legends, poems and novels throughout the ages. Religious faiths have even been established which declare Mt. Fuji as an official object of worship.

Sometimes Fuji-san can't be seen, so you were lucky, Meg, to see it and take photos!

I took the exact same picture from the restaurant while having my dinner before the climb up. Nice photos!

Amanda, did you climb not in the season? In summer Fuji-san has no snow and the view is different.

Been there, and yeah, the mountain is very clear from the station.
