Kumano Deai-no-sato Egg Farm

The egg farm is located on a hill and a 10 minutes drive by car from Hongu

The family is also engaged in organic farming. The farmhouse is 100 years old.

The place was established and is run by Mr. Asano and his family.

The café has a nice terrace that overlooks the Kumano River.

The café is called Minna-no-cafe (Everybody's Cafe).

Here, they serve lunch, coffee, home-made cakes and freshly pressed juices.

The cafe is open on Sunday, Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from 10am to 5pm.

Once a year the family runs an event where they float this hand-made straw boat down the Kumano River.

Little English is spoken here. However, they will try their best to make you feel at home.

The guesthouse has four rooms. The charge is 6,500 yen per person per night.

Kumano Deai-no-sato is a nice place to stay for a couple of days and to enjoy Kumano's nature.

There is one place in Japan where no 7-Eleven stores can be found; Kumano. However, there is no need to panic; there are other options. For instance, the Kumano Deai-no-sato. Located deep in the Kii Mountains, this 100 year old, lovely-looking farmhouse offers fresh eggs to be purchased any time of the year, as well as home-made cakes and vegetables in the adjunct café the family runs.The farm, located on a hill, can only be reached by car (no public transportation available in the area) but, once you get there, you won't want to leave. For this reason, the family also owns a guesthouse where visitors can stay overnight. Enjoy the experience!
