Many would argue that a couple of essential elements in any good Japanese summer festival are food and fireworks. Food brings people together and offers a chance to showcase delicious regional cuisine, and fireworks add an air of excitement and joy to any event. The Hakuko Festival in Tottori's Kotoura Town focuses on these two things, and the event has been attracting crowds for 30 years now.
The highlight of the event is the laser light fireworks show, but there will also be taiko drum and music performances, traditional bon odori dancing, and yes – plenty of food available to purchase.
If you can't be at the event in person, the laser light fireworks show will be broadcast on Kotoura Town's official YouTube channel here.
