Tucked away in a building at Nihonbashi, Tokyo, the Kite Museum is a treasure trove of historical kites. Just like the mad scientist’s lab, the kite museum resembles a kite fanatic’s playhouse with kites of all shapes and colours hanging and drape in every possible (and maybe impossible) corner. There is a scent of 'age' in this small museum, and as I explored and learned about kites of different eras, I cannot help wondering about the kite flyers who once flew these kites and their kite-flying stories. For a nominal entrance fee of ¥200, the Tokyo Kite Museum makes a great visit for those who like kites, history and culture.
