Tokyo's skyline is constantly evolving, and in late spring, architecture enthusiasts will have a chance to see it in a whole new way. The Tokyo Architecture Festival will take place in May, expanding its scope to include Ueno, Shinagawa, and Shibuya for the first time.

Organized by the Tokyo Architecture Festival Executive Committee, the nine-day event invites the public to step inside some of the city's most fascinating buildings, many of which are usually closed to visitors. Around 150 locations are expected to participate, with a diverse lineup that includes special openings, exhibitions, guided tours, workshops, and even architecture-themed cruises.

The festival's guiding philosophy is to help people learn about Tokyo through its buildings. It's an opportunity to see not just the structures themselves, but also the stories behind them, told by architects, owners, and preservation experts. Irrespective of whether you're a design professional, student, or perhaps just curious about the built environment, there's something for everyone to enjoy.

A newly launched teaser site gives a glimpse into what's to come, with the event's key visual symbolizing people coming together under the late spring sunshine to celebrate Tokyo's layered urban culture. With its blend of history, creativity, and open access, the Tokyo Architecture Festival promises to be one of the city's most engaging design events.
