Most people have never heard of Hamura, a small town in the western part of greater Tokyo, along the Ome train line just beside Fussa City. Yet it offers splendid views of very long lines of Sakura (Cherry Blossom Trees) along the Tama River. There are more than a hundred Sakura trees planted in the area, blooming simultaneously in spring for a span of about two weeks. Each year, people from the neighboring towns flock here to simply relax and enjoy a good picnic under the Sakura.

One spring morning by the Tama River, you can see the bridge from the kiosk near the Tamagawa Brothers' statue

This sight evokes serenity in me

The statue of the Tamagawa brothers who built the Tamagawa water dam

The lighthouse stood tall and proud amid the pinkish-white shades of the Sakura trees

The humble beginnings of the Tamagawa Dam, which started with these

An ideal place to relax

For travelers' convenience, toilets for both male and female visitors are provided
