Shunsho-no-Hibiki 2025

A Spring evening concert of traditional Japanese music

Venue
Senzokuike Pond
When
Mid May 2025

The Shunsho-no- Hibiki Concert was started in 1995 in order to commemorate the completion of the Iketsukihashi Bridge, a triple-arched bridge built on the west bank of Senzokuike Pond, and featured a performance from the great fue master Sanzaemon Takara, a Living National Treasure. At the end of March in 2019, the bridge finished undergoing its first reconstruction for twenty years.

Musicians playing flutes, shakuhachi and accompanying percussion are positioned on the illuminated bridge and platforms floating in the water, creating a dream-like atmosphere.

Getting there

An eight-minute walk from Senzokuike Station on the Tokyu Ikegami Line, or from Senzokuike Bus Stop via the Tokyu bus.

Senzokuike Pond is a beautiful location for such a concert. Japanese woodwind instruments have a haunting sound, too.
