Natsumi Handa Photography Exhibition

A limited-time event at the Nikon Plaza Tokyo

Venue: Nikon Plaza Tokyo When: Jul 6th - Jul 19th 2021

A limited-time exhibition at the Nikon Plaza Tokyo will look at the photographic works of Natsumi Handa (1986 - ), who focuses on the nature of Hokkaido in her works. The event is titled "Pirka" (the Ainu word for beautiful), and a variety of Handa's animal-based photography will be on display.

Handa notes that whilst many of her photos depict animals with adorable gestures and facial expressions, the wild world isn't always cute -- there's a real roughness and rawness to it. She believes that is why animals are so beautiful and full of energy, since they face the realities of life and death every day.

Getting there

The Nikon Plaza Tokyo is located within the Shinjuku L Tower, which is approximately 5 minutes on foot from Shinjuku-Nishiguchi Station (Toei Oedo Subway Line).

For those who opt to drive, there is a paid parking lot on site (400 yen per 30 minutes up to a maximum of 2000 yen per day).

I like the photos of animals! And yes, it's hard to catch them in a well-focused shot.
