The Matcha Green Tea Marche is taking place for two days this March at Tokyo's Yoyogi Park, and the event will showcase a diverse range of matcha-based goodies from Japan’s leading tea-producing regions in the one place.
With nine specialty tea vendors setting up booths, visitors can indulge in authentic tea preparations, unique matcha-infused alcoholic beverages, tasty sweets, and even a rare matcha curry. Additionally, matcha-related goods such as tea whisks, tea bowls, and ceremonial-grade matcha will be available for purchase.
Beyond savoring the flavors of matcha, attendees can participate in some engaging hands-on experiences, including a matcha preparation workshop guided by Fukuoka's Hoshino tea Farm, and a matcha calligraphy experience supported by Marushichi Tea from Shizuoka. The latter experience uses matcha that does not meet their usual sales standards and would otherwise be discarded, so it's a win for sustainability and upcycling.
There is no admission fee to enjoy the atmosphere of the event, but do bring yen if you plan on making any food and beverage purchases or taking part in some of the hands-on experiences.
