Have you ever heard of maid cafés? These typically Japanese establishments, besides being regular cafés, offer a special service where the customer is served by a... maid. Thus upon entering the café, the customer becomes 'Goshujin-sama' (Master) or 'Ojō-sama' (Mistress). Putting extra care into their service, the attentive maids never lose their smile and super cute attitude!
Willing to try out these popular cafés by myself, I decided to finally pay a visit. @home cafe is located in Akihabara, the famous hub for otaku pop-culture and the centre of the universe for all that is kawaii, or cute. With over 150 maids serving there, @home cafe is in no shortage of kawaii and is positively filled with cuteness in every possible way.
"Okaerinasaimase, Goshujin-sama!" (Welcome home, Master!) said the kind maid, Chimu, as I pushed open the door to enter the café. When came the time to dine, she deftly used her magic to boost the taste of my meal. And believe it or not, it worked! Or maybe the sight of a lovely maid serving you automatically makes any food taste better...? Whatever the reason, maid cafés are definitely the place to be if you are looking for a little kindness in this hard world. And you, would you be a good "Goshujin-sama"?
