The Kanda and Jimbocho areas of Tokyo are often referred to as the world's largest book town, where literature from all genres can be found. One of the autumn traditions in this part of the city is the Kanda Secondhand Book Festival, where a stretch of Yasukuni-dori spanning around 500 meters turns into a "book corridor" with around a million titles available for purchase.
The event originally started back in 1960, and typically runs for around a week from late October to early November. Another book-related event – the Jimbocho Book Festival – also takes place during similar dates, so be sure to check both of them out if you're in the market for some new reading material.
