Mid Feb - Early Mar 2025

Tokyo's Jindai Botanical Gardens are home to a wide variety of beautiful blooms throughout the year, including roses, azaleas, and sakura. A little earlier in the year the grounds are home to an impressive 210 blossoming plum trees in 72 varieties, and they can be enjoyed from late January to late March.

A plum blossom festival is held at the gardens while the trees are at their best, and it includes other fun activities like music performances and food trucks on select days.

Admission to the venue is priced at 500 yen for adults, and 250 yen for children. Do note that the gardens are closed every Monday, or the following day if the Monday falls on a national holiday.

Getting there

The Jindai Botanical Gardens can be easily accessed via public transport or private vehicle.

For those visiting via public transport, buses are available to the gardens from Chofu Station. Take the Odakyu Bus (Platform No. 12) bound for Kichijoji Station or Mitaka Station and get off at the dedicated stop for Jindai Botanical Gardens.

For those who opt to drive, the venue is around 5 minutes from the Chofu Interchange on the Chuo Expressway.

I was at Jindaiji the other week enjoying some of their honest-to-god awesome soba. Unfortunately I wasn't able to make it to the garden but it's definitely on my list as I'll be heading back to Jindaiji the first chance I get.
