Japan's First Official Tamagotchi Factory! Opens

A new dose of '90s nostalgia in Harajuku

For many travelers who grew up in the 90s or early 2000s, the familiar beeps of a Tamagotchi can instantly bring back childhood memories, and now those memories have a new home in Tokyo. Tamagotchi Factory!, Japan's first official Tamagotchi shop, opened on November 22th, 2025 at Tokyu Plaza Harajuku's Harakado complex.

Instead of a standard retail store, Tamagotchi Factory! is designed as a space where fans can feel like they have stepped inside the world of the tiny digital pet. Staff wear themed uniforms, and the interior is filled with charming factory-style details that make the experience feel surprisingly immersive.

Travelers interested in exclusive souvenirs will find plenty to take home. The shop offers limited edition items, special 29th anniversary goods, and a Tamagotchi Connection collaboration created with the fashion brand mezzo piano. These pieces debut here before appearing anywhere else, so it is a great stop for collectors.

One of the most enjoyable features is the Minitama Tsumehodai activity. Visitors can fill a Tamagotchi-shaped bottle with as many mini figures as they can manage. The selection includes familiar characters, tiny accessories, and even classic icons like candy pieces and the famous poop symbol. It is fun, maybe even a little silly, but makes for a memorable keepsake.

To celebrate its opening, Tamagotchi characters will appear inside the store on select dates through late November. They appear at random times, which adds a bit of excitement for anyone wandering through Harajuku.
