Rikugien Garden was established in 1695 and is one of the most famous gardens in Tokyo. It is one of the gardens in the city that tourists just don’t miss. As one of the best examples of traditional Japanese gardens it is beautiful any time of the year. The garden is particularly popular in autumn when the garden opens until late with special illumination.
My visit occurred at the end of October when the leaves just start to change colours. As I arrived during the evening, there weren't any crowds. I found that Rikugien Garden was very spacious. It featured a traditional pond, bridges, tea houses with some people who were resting inside and a hill to climb up and observe the garden from. The squawking crows inhabiting Rikugien even felt as if they were hosts...
As I walked along the path, the sun began to set, colouring the garden in wonderful golden colours - I cannot express just how absolutely beautiful and special it was.

Rikugien Garden is a short walk from Komagome Staton on the JR Yamanote Line.
