A free zoo sounds too good to be true in Tokyo, but Edogawa City Natural Zoo is just that. Not only is it free admission, the animals in the zoo impressively range from the smallest petting zoo bunnies to peregrine falcons to seals to red pandas. The zoo boasts over 30 different species of animals with detailed descriptions about habitats and behavior, so adults and children alike can learn about the animals. A short 15 minute walk from Nishi-Kasai Station, Edogawa City Natural Zoo is a part of the greater Gyosen Park. The zoo is closed on Mondays.

Welcome to Edogawa City Natural Zoo!
The common squirrel monkey is the first to greet you when you walk into the zoo
This Greater Hill Myna can say hello, good morning, goodbye and can even meow like a cat!
The red panda is fun to watch as it climbs from branch to branch and repeats
While a relatively very small zoo, it is still very spacious
The peregrine falcon was a majestic sight to behold
It was my first time seeing the giant anteater and I was stunned by its size as it roamed looking for food
The playful South American sea lion swims back and forth in its pool
The zookeeper lures down the beautiful black-capped lory
The petting zoo section included animals like bunnies, goats, guinea pigs, chickens, and more!
It was exciting seeing animals I'd never seen before, like these red-necked wallabies
The creative sign reads "From now on, come see the animals again!"
