Stray off the beaten path to the surburban area, Daikanyama. The streets are lined with little boutique stores, cafes, salons and restaurants. At night, the warm lightning in these quaint establishments look doubly inviting and creates a romantic atmosphere perfect for a slow evening. The only crowded place is the limited edition pop-up cafe located just 2 minutes away from Daikanyama station. My Melody fans, join the queue while it lasts until 31st October! For the rest of us, I recommend ending the day here in Daikanyama after your crazy shopping spree in Shibuya.

Daikanyama at night
A romantic suburban area perfect for a slow evening

The busiest shop in the whole of Daikanyama, apparently because it is a limited edition My Melody pop-up cafe.

The little boutique shops at Daikanyama look extra cosy with their warm lighting.

The glass windows of retail shops look classier perched on a slope.

Somehow, the small boutique shops remind me of Europe.

La Castita, serving Mexican food since 1976. One of the many cosy, intimiate dining places in Daikanyama.

Felt cafe, a little basement cafe functioning together with a handicrafts shop on ground level.

Florist shops in Daikanyama all look beautifully overcrowded with flora.

A cafe selling waffles and a hair salon in a quiet back street.

A quiet, romantic little street with boutique shops and cafes.

Another quaint cafe with interesting decorations, highly likely to be a hybrid between a cafe and a boutique.

Skaters only! I like how they made their outdoor furniture from skateboards as well.

In Daikanyama, the shop and residential houses have interesting stairways.
