C&C Curry

Feast on cheap, tasty Japanese curry at this chain

Sometimes if I'm out and about in Tokyo, I just want a big filling plate of stodgy comfort food, and one place I can rely on is C&C Curry. With 22 branches, mostly around the western parts of central and suburban Tokyo, it's a chain of stores serving tasty, inexpensive Japanese curry.

In central Tokyo, there are branches in plenty of major districts, including Shinjuku, Shibuya, Yurakucho and Akihabara, as well as less visited spots like Sasazuka and Meidaimae. In the suburbs, you can stop off on your way home in places such as Kichijoji, Nagayama and Chofu.

Dishes cost from JPY440 for a basic pork curry on rice, and you can choose the level of spiciness, amount of rice, and an array of different toppings and side dishes: pork or chicken cutlets, vegetables, fried chicken, spinach. If you're like me, you can also pile on the free red pickles for some extra flavour.

Getting there

There are maps for each branch on the website; all the ones that I've been to are very close to a station, often in the same building.

Every shop keeps different opening hours on different days; most are open by 10:00am, and stay open until at least 9:00pm at weekends, 10:00pm on weekdays.
