Chocolate mint is a flavor that signals the start of Japan’s warmer months, and it's once again stepping into the spotlight at Tobu Department Store’s Ikebukuro Main Branch. From late May to early June, the basement food floors will host the second annual Chocolate Mint Party, offering numerous takes on the popular flavor.
After its debut in 2024, this year’s celebration expands to include about 25 participating shops and 55 different chocolate mint-themed items, which is roughly triple the previous lineup. Guests can expect a colorful spread of sweets, breads, drinks, and even savory side dishes, each creatively infused with the mint-choc combo.
Among the highlights are Tobu-exclusive pastries such as Boule Ange’s Chocolate Mint Croissant, Pompadour’s Danish-style “Refreshing Chocolate Mint,” and Paopao’s Chocolate Mint Bun. For the more adventurous, the event also includes unique savory offerings like Sage & Fennel’s chocolate mint salad and a decadent gnocchi gratin from Fermented Kitchen featuring mint and cream cheese.
Cold beverages and frozen treats round out the experience. Key Coffee’s soft-serve-topped float and Marufuku Coffee’s layered parfait offer refreshing ways to cool down while indulging in the trendy flavor.
