Immediately next to Takadanobaba station is Big Box, an aptly-named building with a couple of shopping floors that attract a lively, youthful crowd. It's mostly womens' clothing stores, ranging from Bohemian and lingerie to alternative and solidly mainstream fashion, but there's also a hundred-yen shop, a couple of cafes and more. Neither touristy nor high-end, it's a fun place to go and shop like young Japanese do, then to admire your purchases over a coffee or cake.

Big Box Takadanobaba
A cheap'n'cheerful student district shopping centre

One shopper shopping

The building is very aptly named

There are often goods for sale at the front entrance of the building

More event sale racks at the front

One of the stores inside

More womens' fashion

It looks like I was there in sale season

And some fashion for younger women

Snacks and drinks in the hundred-yen shop

Tinsel and other hundred-yen goodies

It's just as easy to find after dark
