Naruto Park is located at the foot of the Great Naruto Bridge (on Tokushima side). As soon as you cross it, you are already inside the park. After visiting the Otsuka Museum of Art, I climbed up to one of the observation platforms in the park and enjoyed a magnificent view of Naruto Strait and the beautiful bridge. There, you'll have a 360-degree panorama view of the entire area, including Awaji island, the beautiful ocean and Naruto city. And if you are lucky, you may be able to see the great Naruto whirlpools from the top of the hills, where wind blows so strong that I bet you'd feel like Catherine or Heathcliff in Wuthering Heights!

Great Naruto Bridge, which connects Tokushima with Awaji Island

Tidal currents clash just under the Great Naruto Bridge. This is where Naruto Whirlpools can be seen in the early afternoon during spring tide

Although it was in the late afternoon I found a small whirlpool!

Sign explaining why and how whirlpools occur in Naruto Strait. It says the best season to see them is in April, but in Naruto, as currents are fierce, they can be seen throughout the year just after noon during spring tide

Map of Naruto Park. There are 4 observation platforms inside the park. According to the map, there is a Whirlpool Observatory Promenade on the Great Naruto Bridge. You can walk on the bridge and see the whirlpools up-close

'Tea Garden' Observation Platform

It's so windy on top of the hill that flowers and plants are swept down to the ground

Salty wind changed the color of a pine tree from green to brown
