Temple six in the Shikoku Ohenro pilgrimage is also known as the Temple of Everlasting Joy. Originally founded by Kōbō Daishi, it is said that that this is where he struck his staff into the ground and brought forth a hot spring. In the past, people would travel from all over Japan to wash and to take advantage of its curative properties. Unfortunately, the baths have long since disappeared, but the temple is still there and well maintained. To get there, catch a Kajiyahara bound bus from Itano or Tokushima Station and get off at Higashihara bus stop. From there it is about a 10 minute walk.
