Nasunogahara Summer Pools

Seasonal outdoor pools in a vast park

Nasunogahara is a sprawling park with dozens of things for families to enjoy. Each year in the summer, for six weeks only, they open their outdoor pools. There are four pools in total. One for toddlers, one for small children, a general pool and one with waves. There is a large water slider too. Facilities include coin lockers, a shop and a restaurant. Of course there are changing rooms and toilets too.

The pools are open from the middle of July to the end of August annually. During the season, the pools are open from 9 am to 5 pm daily, with last entry at 4 pm.

Getting there

By car: The park is about a ten minute drive from the Nishinasuno Shiobara Interchange of the Tohoku expressway.

By public transport: The park is about a 20 minute walk from Senbonmatsu Farm. A bus goes from JR Utsunomiya line’s Nishi Nasuno station. The bus ride takes about 15 minutes.

Nasu-Shiobara is great for families, isn't it? There's so much to keep kids entertained and then there are the onsens and historic spots.

I'm of the same mind - only venturing out only in close proximity to home and investigating quieter paces and finding a lot of quiet places to recharge.

Haha! As a Mom of 4 I get away with being a kid while I'm "supervising" them!!!
