Kinugawa Ryuokyo Valley Hiking

Full of fresh green

Beautiful ravine

Salmon pink azalea

Falls flowing into the river

Nijimi Bridge, near the starting point

Go-ryuo-jinja Shrine near the start (enshrines the dragon)

Tategoto-no-taki Falls (Harp Falls)

Ryuokyo Valley is an amazing ravine between Kawaji Onsen and Kinugawa Onsen spa areas. The water color changes from white, to blue to purple, and the stream meanders like a violent dragon’s body. Because of this color and shape, it is called the "Valley of the Dragon King". The eyes of visitors will be delighted by many small falls which flow into the river, mountain sides full of fresh green, and flowers of singular shape and beauty. The course starts from Ryuokyo Station on the Noiwa Tesudo Line, connecting from the Tobu Kinugawa Line.
