A train from Tokyo puts you in a city of shrines
Tired of Tokyo? Perish the thought! But if you're staying a while in the bustling metropolis, think about taking a day trip up to Nikko. A two-hour train from Asakusa in Tokyo will let you visit the famous Toshogo Shrine, the most lavishly decorated shrine in Japan. But while the legendary Tokugawa Ieyasu's mausoleum is the marquee sight to see, there's so many more shrines (and other sights, too) to enjoy.
