Orchid Sanctuary Dogashima is a beautiful botanical garden showcasing many varieties of orchids in western Izu. You can visit this garden and five indoor greenhouses all year round as the large selection of varieties there bloom throughout the year. Six thousand pots of orchids are nurtured for visitors and for research and development.

The observation greenhouses are spectacularly arranged with pools, trees, and creative structures of flowers.

This is the entrance to the Orchid Sanctuary Dogashima. You buy your ticket (adults 1300 yen; students 650 yen) at the entrance and then ride an elevator up the hill to the Main Hall.

This giant peacock statue located by the entrance is made out of orchids and plant material. This picture does not do it justice.

This is one of the many amazing varieties of orchids. Your senses are filled with the colors, shapes, and textures of all the varieties of flowers.
