"We want Makaino Farm to remain a place where the importance of agriculture and gentle touch can be felt -- where people and nature can come together, whatever the trend of the times is." Indeed, true to the farm management's primary objective, my friend and I enjoyed the company of farm animals like mountain goats, cows, horses, different kinds of birds and hamsters, among others. Despite the snow covered place, we were able to pet and feed the rabbits and the sheep inside their cages and stables. It was an unforgettable experience at the foot of Mt. Fuji.

The Farm on Asagiri Plateau at the foot of Mt. Fuji

Makaino had a little lamb, little lamb, little lamb. Its fleece was white as snow. (Photo: Tyra 'nell Pille)

Makaino Farm has rarely -- if ever -- been covered in waist-deep snow. So most visitors had their lunches inside their cars. (Photo: Tyra 'nell Pille)

During regular visiting days, this is where visitors can pet the horses. On this snowy day, all animals were kept inside their cages and stables. So there were none to pet at all. (Photo: Tyra 'nell Pille)

The entrance fee was waived because the place was covered in snow. This is one good reason why I love the snow, aside from its tranquil beauty. (Photo: Tyra 'nell Pille)

Leah -- It was the first time that it snowed real hard in this place. Luckily, it added to the beauty I wanted to capture. Petting the animals are much fun, though, they smell but that's the only downside of it, it doesn't equate to the fulfillment you will get when you experience it.
