Chichibu's amazing cherry blossom viewing spot

The trees are mostly yoshino cherry, weeping cherry, and double-petal cherry trees.

The cherry trees bloom every year from the end of March to early April.

There are expansive green fields on the hill that are great for picnicking.

Others flowers, like these tulips, were also blooming in the park.

Hitsujiyama literally means 'sheep mountain'.

As the cherry blossoms fell, the shibazakura were just starting to bloom.

A variety of food stalls were set up within the park to accommodate visitors.

Due to the fame of its shibazakura flower fields that peak in mid-April to early May, the 1000 cherry trees of Saitama's Hitsujiyama Koen are often overlooked. Located a short walk from Seibu Chichibu Station, this park has one of Kanto's loveliest (and quietest) cherry blossom displays. These photos were taken around April 10th, when both sakura and some shibazakura could be enjoyed.
