Up until the 2022 demolition of the Harumi Passenger Ship Terminal, Harumi Wharf was the largest passenger ship pier in Tokyo. This berth was primarily designed for passenger ships and was a great place to get up close and personal with some of the most modern and magnificent luxury liners. Much of its function as a port has been moved to Tokyo International Cruise Terminal, located further south at Odaiba.
Much of the area, including neighboring Harumi Port Park, is undergoing redevelopment, with a new cruise ship terminal scheduled to start operating from November 2025 to accommodate the growing number of international cruise ships arriving in Japan. The area's iconic sculpture, Fubai Ginran, has survived for the time being.
Harumi Wharf had been known as a filming location for numerous tokusatsu productions thanks to its expansive, industrial setting and dramatic skyline. This distinctive waterfront has appeared repeatedly in series like Super Sentai and Kamen Rider—notably in Magiranger, Go-Busters, Kuuga, and Ex-AID. Fans may also recognize it from appearances in Ultraman Orb and Special Rescue Exceedraft, among others. Its recognizable landscape has made it a favorite backdrop for action-packed battles and climactic scenes across Japan’s sci-fi and hero genres.
