Visit this highly temporally limited attraction in Kyushu. The Kunenan Garden opens its gates only twice a year and offers visitors a rare sight of the pristine landscape and the vivid colors of nature. Every autumn, the gates are opened for nine days in November In spring there are only 3 days in May when you can admire the garden.
The garden was laid out in nine years of construction, which earned it the name " Nine-year garden " (Kunenan). It was commissioned by the businessman Itami Yataro during the Meiji period, who wanted a second home in the mountains of Saga Prefecture. Kunenan has an area of 68,000 square meters. The garden is laid out according to the Shakkei method in order to depict the universal harmony in nature.
