Earlier this year, the Okinawan island of Miyakojima won a TripAdvisor Traveler's Choice award in the emerging destinations category, which is determined in part by increases in searches and saved destinations in the region. There's no doubting that once travel resumes, that this part of Japan will see a surge in visitor numbers, and the Hilton group have already got their eyes on this. Construction is currently underway on the Hilton Okinawa Miyakojima Resort, which is scheduled to open in the early summer of 2023.
The resort will be located around 7 kilometers from Miyako Airport (around 15-minute driving time), or around 13 kilometers from Shimojishima Airport (around 25-minute driving time), making it ultra-convenient for travelers visiting from other parts of Japan. There will be a total of 329 guest rooms in varying sizes, suit everything from romantic couples getaways to family vacations with the whole crew in tow. There will also be meeting rooms incorporated into the resort's design, opening it up to those who are traveling for business purposes as well.
At the idyllic beachfront property, guests will also have access to three different outdoor pools, an indoor pool and fitness center, a spa, and a kids club. As for the dining options, there will be all-day dining in the room, an Italian restaurant, a lobby bar, and a rooftop lounge.
