The Great Seto Ohashi Bridge

Connecting Honshu and Shikoku in style

The Seto Ohashi Bridge is lit up every Saturday night and on special days of the year

Standing beneath the bridge, one gets a feel for just how massive it is

Trains pass on the lower deck of the bridge - the one way cost by train is considerably less expensive!

Using the boat docked here in Kojima, visitors can take a 20-30 minute ride around the bridge

The view from the boat is impossible to get anywhere else!

Passing beneath the bridge, one is impressed with how solidly it is built

I'm still not sure how this fisherman got here, but I admire his dedication!

The colors of dusk make for a beautiful scene around the bridge

The peak of Washuzan mountain offers a great view, and is usually not very crowded

As an island nation, bridges play a vital part of Japan's infrastructure. Of these bridges, the Seto Ohashi Bridge in Kojima, Kurashiki, Okayama Prefecture is certainly among the most beautiful. Spanning the length of the Inland Sea, this bridge connects Honshu and Shikoku in style. The bridge and the inland sea can be best be viewed from Washuzan Mountain in Kurashiki city, Okayama Prefecture. Though the trip may be out of the way for many people, the views are definitely worth it.

Beautiful photos, and your work experience there explains how you got so many different angles of the bridge. Since you were there for a year, would you know what the bridge is like when not lit up? Considering going during sunset on a Sunday but am worried that we would be disappointed from the journey out from Kurashiki.

Telloyd, thankfully it didn't take that long! I worked in the city just next to this bridge for a year, and rode my bike by here every day. So these shots were taken over a longer period of time :)
