Celebrating 30 years of the temple's World Heritage registration

Oct 21st - Nov 5th 2023

A big part of Japan's allure lies in the fusion of tradition and modernity on show in many parts of the country. Projection mapping events held at historical locations are a good example of this, and a special event this October brings colorful illuminations to Nara's Horyuji Temple.

The event celebrates the 30th anniversary of Horyuji's registration as a World Heritage Site, and the temple's precincts will be decorated in unique ways. One of the highlights is set to be the Nandaimon Gate adorned with autumn-themed projection mapping displays in line with the season.
