Perhaps best known as a winter sports destination, Nagano's Hakuba area is equally as charming during green season. If you're looking for an excuse to visit, the Hakuba Summer Festival has been running for over three decades now, and it includes a variety of fun activities to enjoy a summer evening in this part of the country.
Held on the lush grounds of the Hakuba Green Sports Park, the event boasts food booths selling a host of delicious eats, stage performances, and a mesmerizing 45 minute long fireworks show to cap everything off.
Admission to the event itself is free of charge, but do bring yen if you plan on purchasing food or drinks.
